MD/DC Chapter News August 2000
We had a chapter meeting on June 2nd at the National Zoo. The topics discussed were: Energy Management Systems and interoperability and communications presented by Doug Doty of Energy Management Systems; Xeriscape and the art of landscaping with products requiring little to no watering; and a talk about Chloramine, a new product being utilized in place of chlorine by the Washington Suburban Water Authority to purify the domestic water systems and its impact on local institutions. Representatives of the National Zoo presented both of these last presentations. After our picnic lunch we were treated to a variety of behind the scenes tours of the Zoo including Great Apes and the Think Tank, Amazonia, Seals and Sea Lions, The Elephant House, Grasslands, Bird Houses and of course the central steam plant. A good time was had by all 60 attendees. We especially want to thank Ms. Robin Vasa of the Smithsonian National Zoological Park for arranging and hosting the meeting.
On June 21, 22 and 23 The Catholic University of America
hosted a training session using the MBTI program and team building and
development. Ms. Michelle Estep of
the Smithsonian and Ms. Ellen Blummer of The University of Maryland at College
Park put on the program. 15 people
attended and came away with a better knowledge of personalities involved in
building a better team.
July 28th saw the Chapter Board meeting at
University of Maryland, Baltimore to develop the program for our upcoming
meeting in September. The meeting,
scheduled for September 15th will be hosted by UMB at the new School
of Nursing building. During the

Following the meeting, buses will transport the group to the inner harbor
and the National Aquarium for lunch in the 4th floor meeting room
overlooking the harbor. After
lunch, behind the scenes tours have been set up for all the attendees.

ERAPPA’s Partners in Education Program by hosting this years circuit speaker,

Coach. We have 41 persons
