The
Maryland/District of Columbia Chapter of ERAPPA held the annual Fall meeting on
September 12, 2003, in the Mary Gradon Center at the American University in
Washington, DC. The educational
topics for this meeting were
- In
the Trenches with Historical Renovations - This session focused on the complex renovation of Davidge Hall
on the campus of the University of Maryland Baltimore.
The Campus Renovations and Alterations Team conducted the
presentation.
- Green
Building / LEEDS Initiatives – This session focused on the LEEDS process as it was applied to
the design of a new academic building for Saint Mary’s College of
Maryland. The speakers were
Larry Hartwick from Saint Mary’s College and Tom Butcabage from the Smith
Group.
- Managing
Ethically
– This session examined ethical issues facing facilities professionals.
The framework of foundation principals and questions were presented
to use as a guide in the decision-making process to improve the ethical
climate of the organizations where the attendees work.
Lander Medlin, Executive Vice President of APPA, presented the
session.
After
attending two of the three educational sessions, the group was treated to a
behind the scenes tour of one of Washington’s most famous historic buildings,
the National Cathedral.
