Leon Bivens is currently the Associate Director of Physical Plant at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore located in Princess Anne, MD. He started his tenure at UMES in 1977 as an electrician moving through the ranks as a high voltage electrician, Multi-trades Supervisor III, Assistant Director for operations/Maintenance, on to his present position. He is a certified driver improvement trainer, a CPR/1st aide instructor, & a part/time lecturer in the Construction Technology Department at UMES. Leon holds a Bachelor of Science degree and is certified as an EFP (educational facilities professional) through APPA. He has been associated with APPA for over 9 years. He graduated from APPA’s Institute for Facilities Management & attended the Supervisors Tool Kit. Presently he is enrolled in APPA’s Leadership Academy. He is very active serving on several campus wide committees. The University of Maryland Eastern Shore sits on over 740 acres with over 80 buildings totaling over 1.7 million square feet. Leon supports the university efforts in making a good university great.
