At the January 2013 APPA U, four MD/DC APPA Chapter members were recognized for their completion of APPA programs.  We would like to recognize and congratulate them for achieving this professional development accomplishment.  (Several of them took advantage of the ERAPPA and MD/DC APPA Scholarship Program - You can too!) Fall Educational Program!  Plans are underway for the MD/DC APPA Fall Program.  We are fine-tuning arrangements for the Fall Program to be held on Friday, October 18, 2013, at Bowie State University.  Check back for more information as we get closer to the date.

Scholarship Program

The Scholarship Program is established to support the education of facilities professionals. ERAPPA awards up to six scholarships per year, AND, MD/DC APPA awards up to three scholarships each year.  APPLY NOW FOR 2014 Scholarships! ERAPPA also now offers an Ambassador Scholarship for registration to the ERAPPA Annual Conference (for 1st time attendees or those who have not attended in five years - see ERAPPA site for more information - application process opens May 20, 2013; awards are issued on a first-come, first served basis for those meeting the criteria). Up to 15 Ambassador Scholarships will be awarded by ERAPPA.  For more information, go to:  Ambassador Scholarships

The MD/DC Scholarship covers the registration fees for any of the APPA educational programs:  APPA's Institute for Facilities Management, Leadership Academy, Supervisor's Toolkit, and APPA certification preparatory courses.  Additionally, the scholarship provides for reimbursement of up to $1,000 towards qualified travel expenses (hotel, air, travel, etc.).

Scholarship Applications can be submitted between April and September 1st of each calendar year. Application forms (applicants and supervisors) must be completed online and received on the ERAPPA website no later than September 1. Applications received after September 1st will be returned to the applicant for re-submission for the next year. Only applications received directly from the applicant will be considered.  Scholarships must be utilized in the calendar year for which they are awarded or they may be forfeited.  Selection criteria and further details are provided on the ERAPPA site:  ERAPPA Scholarships

Application forms must be completed online via the ERAPPA website. Once a completed application is received by ERAPPA, a confirmation email is sent to the applicant indicating the application has been received and outlining the award process.  Applications will be reviewed and evaluated at the ERAPPA level for consideration prior to the ERAPPA Annual Meeting which is held in the fall each year. The scoring will be based on a single set of criteria for all scholarship types.
